Gail Boykewich describes herself as a painter at heart, but is quickly becoming known for her imaginative images made of cut paper.  She graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2003, where she studied painting, sculpture, and fiber arts. In Chicago she was drawn to traditional portrait painting, magic realism, and craft “outsider” art.

After graduating Gail moved to Los Angeles, where she worked in prop and set decorating  for film and television.

Gail’s meticulously detailed work is driven by her love of nature and animals, and the relationships we have with them. Her images are often brightly colored, patterned and contain botanical elements. Her themes have been described as whimsical, tender, melancholic and sometimes humorous.

Gail has shown her work in Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Jersey City. She currently lives and works in Jersey City. You can see her acrylic paintings, paper-cuts, paper-mache animal sculptures, and theatre sets/ props in various shows and gatherings around Jersey city.
